After a long journey around the South Island of New Zealand the ferry towards the North waited for us. In about three weeks time I would discover everything the island had to give us. Little did I know how different the North would be from the South. Eventually I liked the South much better, but if you have the chance to travel both islands, do it. It has some sweet ass places to explore!
After travelling New Zealand for a full three months I really have the feeling I have seen the country. It has been an amazing journey, travelling across both the South and North Island. I explored most parts in a van and met many amazing people from all over the world. It has been an amazing experience, living through new adventures every day. Yet, a few locations in New Zealand took a special place in my heart. I made a photo gallery from these places, places that made me feel the happiest and places that are thát stunning, I could never ever forget them. These places where especially on the South Island.
It occured to me that I didn’t have all the time in the world anymore for travelling around New Zealand. At the moment I still took my time for everything and sometimes just did nothing for a day when the weather sucked. Unfortunately, I realised that my visum would expire within two weeks and that my New Zealand adventure would soon come to an end. I started to plan a bit more that I used to do and quickly concluded that I had to move on faster if I wantd to finish my ‘To-See-And-Do’-list. So much to see, so little time!
Unfortunately the weather starts to get worse and worse, Autumn obviously arrived. Now, I must say, I have been very lucky so far, weather-wise. I almost saw the sun every day since I left, so there had to be a moment that things got less pleasant. But it makes some things a bit less fun to do, or you keep changing plans untill the weather clears up. Even so, our kayak plans for Abel Tasman National Park fell through.
Before my trip along New Zealand’s west coast took off, I visited the Felton Road Winery for a tour and tasting. As soon as I arrived at the winery I noticed how beautiful this winery is! Green vines mixed with purple flourishing lavender, finished with blue skies and sunshine gave a smil on my face already. And by then, I didn’t even know how beautiful their brand new tasting room was yet.
