Since I started working in Sydney, I know how much Ozzies love their Avo on toast with some poached eggs or vegemite. Walk into any cafe and there will be avo toast on the menu, plus, it will probably be the most popular dish in the venue. So after working in the cafe, where I poached 16 eggs, I went to my other job, where they kindly asked me to poach some more eggs. Happy to have a nice free Sunday, my brain missed the poaching so much, that I even did some in my spare time, for me myself and I!
Everyone who has ever been to Australia knows them. In most day use areas you will find playgrounds, toilets, picnic tables and Public BBQs. These grill plates are used by many backpackers and travellers as well as the locals who like to use them for their family BBQ. Most people take their sausage en burger, but for foodloversmagazine this is too mainstream. After eating all cheap money saving food I felt it was time for a bit of comfort food, ‘Home Made’ pizza on the public BBQs! And yes, this truly works and is not even really expensive to make!
Finally! I can bake again! After months of travelling without having a proper kitchen, I am glad to be able to cook again. I gained a lot of inspiration and wrote down all the ideas I had while travelling, which made me end up with a giant list. Today I started baking again, by making this very easy, no bake chocolate & pear tart with a Dutch twist! A perfect autumn recipe!
This is a recipe for FAST Food. not very healthy, but 100% camper/backpacker proof. And hey, there is cucumber on it, that is healthy, right? During BBQs back in Holland, there will always be sateh sauce or peanut sauce as we would call it, on the table. The peanut butter replaced the sateh sauce in this recipe to make it travel proof. The combination of chicken, peanut butter, cucumber, aioli and bbq sauce ended up being a great combination and a heavenly meal after a long day hike.
Yummmm carrot cake! I don’t know how it is un your country, but in Holland every time someone brings a carrot cake, the famous joke about the rabbit at the bakery comes along. I just hadn’t had carrot cake for such a long time, so I decided to make one for my collegues (and for me 🙂 ) because it was my last day of work before my big travls. And a nice thing about carrot cake is that it contains a lot of carrot, so you can always use that as an excuse to eat another piece (of course don’t mention the amount of sugar and the amout of butter and the frosting).
